Basic Biographical Details Name: | Alexander Philip | Designation: | | Born: | 17 June 1908 | Died: | 3 February 1999 | Bio Notes: | Alexander Philip was born on 17 June 1908, the son of George Philip, master butcher, and his wife, Elizabeth Cruickshank. He commenced his studies at the Aberdeen School of Architecture in June 1925. He was articled to John Alexander Ogg Allan from June 1927 to June 1930, passing his diploma in the latter month and his post-diploma and the Professional Practice exam a year later. He was admitted ARIBA in spring 1932, his proposers being Allan, James Brown Nicol and George Bennett Mitchell. His professional status at that time is unknown but he was living at 'Cairnfield', Cairncry Road, Aberdeen. Before 1955 he moved to work in the Architects Department, Wigmore, Pennyhill Lane, West Bromich, Staffordshire at some point prior to mid-1973 at which time he retired. He would appear to have returned to Scotland after retirement.
He died at the Royal Infirmary in Aberdeen on 3 February 1999. He never married.
