Bio Notes: George Bailey was born in 1792, trained in the office of Sir John Soane, and remained as an assistant until Soane's death in 1837, in which year he became the first curator of Sir John Soane's Museum in accordance with his will. He remained in charge of the Museum until his death in 1860. He was one of the two Honorary Secretaries of the Institute of British Architects.
