Basic Biographical Details Name: | Stucke & Bannister | Designation: | | Born: | 1901 | Died: | 1908 | Bio Notes: | William Henry Stucke was born on 6 March 1865 in Cheltenham, where he received his architectural training. He subsequently worked in various London offices until 1889 when he emigrated to South Africa. There he went first to Bloemfontein and then to Johannesburg. He was assisted from 1896 by William Ernest Bannister, who had been born in Alloa on 26 February 1874 and had recently emigrated.
Stucke closed the office at the beginning of the Boer War in 1899 and he and Bannister moved to Port Elizabeth. Bannister was taken into partnership in 1901 and the Stucke & Bannister practice returned to Johannesburg at the end of the war in 1902. Bannister married in the following year.
