Basic Biographical Details

Name: Robert Smart Brown
Designation:
Born: 30 April 1906
Died: 1987
Bio Notes: Robert Smart Brown was born on 30 April 1906 and studied full-time at Aberdeen School of Architecture, Robert Gordon's College from September 1923 until 1925. He then spent three years as a pupil of T Scott Sutherland, before completing his architecture course at the School of Architecture, passing the qualifying exam in Edinburgh in July 1929. He was admitted ARIBA later that year, his proposers being James Brown Nicol, Robert Gordon Wilson Junior and Douglas Stuart McMillan. In his proposer's statement, Nicol mentions that Brown has spent three months in his office; the dates of this employment are unclear but it seems likely that he found employment there after qualifying and was still there at the time of his admittance as ARIBA.

Brown died in Surrey in 1987, his death registered in June.
