Basic Biographical Details Name: | Woodd & Ainslie | Designation: | | Born: | 1887 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | The partnership of John Henry Townsend Woodd and Wilfred Ainslie was formed in 1887 with its office at 23 Abingdon Street, Westminster. Both partners had been senior assistants of Ewan Christian. Woodd was the older, born about 1857, graduating MA from King’s College, Cambridge about 1878; thereafter articled to Joseph Clarke, 1879-1881, transferring to Ewan Christian’s office in 1881. Ainslie, born about 1860 was articled to Paley & Austin 1877 and entered Christian’s office in the same year as Woodd, 1881.
Both partners were admitted FRIBA on 2 March 1908, both with William Douglas Caroe as proposer but Woodd’s seconders were C J Blomfield and H Read and Ainslie’s Aston Webb and C H Townsend.
The practice does not seem to have recommenced following World War I.
