Basic Biographical Details Name: | James William Reid | Designation: | | Born: | 27 August 1910 | Died: | 5 October 1994 | Bio Notes: | James William Reid was born on 27 August 1910, the son of James Lindsay Reid, railway surfaceman, and his wife, Catherine Reid (nee Reid). He was described on his death certificate as 'chief clerk of works'.
He commenced practice in 1924 with an office at 79 West Regent Street, Glasgow. He was still at that address in 1939. He seems to have signed the drawings for the Austin Reed building in Glasgow in 1926, perhaps actiing as chief clerk of works for Westwood & Emberton. He retired in 1960. The practice was taken over by his assistant S Lothian Barclay, who had joined the practice sometime before 1956. Robert McLaren and Geoffrey Jarvis were also in the office at this time. In 1959 the office was moved to 19 Woodside Place and became S Lothian Barclay.
Reid died at Kingseat Hospital Newmachar.
