Bio Notes: John Taylor was born c.1885 and was articled to James Thomson of Bo'ness. He served as a dispatch rider during World War I. He established his practice in 1919 and in the 1920s and 1930s he practised on his own account in Bo'ness, gaining automatic admittance as LRIBA on 14 January 1926, without the need for proposers, indicating that he was at least 30 years old and had been an assistant or assistant and principal for ten years, or a principal for seven years. By 1926 he was also a Fellow of Institute of Architects (Scotland).

He worked with Matthew Steele in some kind of partnership in the 1930s and together they carried out several municipal and county housing schemes together. He was architect to the Bo'ness Co-operative Society and contiinued to practise in Bo'ness until his death in his fifty-eighth year in March 1942. Follwing his death his business was put up for sale.
