Bio Notes: Alexander Cameron Todd was born on 23 March 1879 and articled to Steele & Balfour of Glasgow for five years from 1 June 1894, during which period he studied under William James Anderson and Alexander McGibbon at Glasgow School of Art. At the end of his articles he became an assistant first to Stark & Rowntree and then in 1900 to John Archibald Campbell. It was probably on Campbell's recommendation that he obtained a post as senior assistant in Montreal with Burnet Son & Campbell's former assistant, Robert Findlay, in 1906, but in the following year he moved to A H Lapierre, also of Montreal, before finally settling with Brown & Vallance in the same city in 1908. He was still there when he was admitted LRIBA on 22 April 1912, his proposers being Percy Edward Nobbs, George Allan Ross and Donald Macpherson Gordon, all of Montreal.
