Bio Notes: George Dale Oliver was born in 1851, the son of Thomas Oliver of Newcastle upon Tyne, and was articled to his father in 1867. In 1871 he moved to London to gain wider experience as an improver and latterly assistant in the office of George Edmund Street. He was subsequently assistant to J Crosby Hetherington in Carlisle, who took him into partnership in 1876. He later worked in partnership with Edward John Dodgshun with offices in Carlisle and Leeds.
