He was admitted ARIBA on 20 November 1865 and FRIBA on 19 November 1888. He was taken into partnership by St Aubyn some time before 1885. In the latter year St Aubyn retired and Wadling continued the practice alone, as well as taking on St Aubyn's role as Architect and Surveyor to the Middle Temple.
