In 1882 he formed a partnership with John Kinross. The quality of the work of the Seymour & Kinross partnership indicates that Seymour assumed a lower profile throughout. The partnership was dissolved in 1889 when Kinross became a sole practitioner with an office in Howe Street. No independent work by Seymour is yet known.
Seymour was not married and died of pneumonia and cardiac failure at his home 66 Great King Street, Edinburgh aged 55 on 5 December 1912.
