Bio Notes: David Stirling was born in Galashiels and was apprenticed there. He emigrated to Canada about 1847 and practised in the Atlantic provinces and Ontario until the late 1880s, his busiest period being the 1860s in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He formed a partnership with William Hay in 1863 but this must have been dissolved in 1864 as Hay returned to Scotland that year. The date of Stirling's death has yet to be traced.
