Bio Notes: James Gordon was born in in 1854 or 1855 and was articled to Robert Rowand Anderson with whom he worked on the University Buildings. In 1880 he became an asistant to Hippolyte Jean Blanc and was taken into partnership in 1886 or 1887. He was described in his obituary as one of the 'most promising architects in this city'. He was just on the 'eve of being married' when he died from a chill which he had caught on Christmas Day 1888. He died at Hippolyte Blanc's house at 17 Strathearn Road on 4 January 1889; the funeral was held here a few days later. He was buried at Warriston Cemetery.
