Basic Biographical Details Name: | Charles H Robinson | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1855 | Died: | 3 May 1927 | Bio Notes: | Charles H Robinson was born in England c.1855, the son of Thomas Robinson, master jeweller and Sarah Eaton; they settled in Glasgow between 1862 and 1867. Robinson commenced practice in Glasgow c.1888. The 1891 census shows him practising entirely on his own without any staff of any kind. He was then living with his widowed mother and two brothers and two sisters, all of whom were younger. He was a bar specialist.
Like so many others, Robinson closed his practice in 1909 or 1910, presumably as a result of the recession in the building trade created by the Finance Act of 1909. It is not yet known where he obtained employment but he was still described as an architect when he died, unmarried, of degeneration of the myocardium at 15 Garrioch Quadrant, Glasgow, on 3 May 1927. His death was reported by his nephew F B Robinson who lived at 1 Burnbank Terrace. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | 49, Bath Street, Glasgow, Scotland | Business | Before 1889 | After 1909 | | | 25, Eildon Street, Glasgow, Scotland | Business | 1891 * | | | | 29, Garrioch Quadrant, Glasgow, Scotland | Business | May 1927 * | | Place of death |
