Basic Biographical Details

Name: James Sutherland (junior)
Designation: Architect
Born: c. 1862
Bio Notes: James Sutherland, Junior was the son of James Sutherland, who commenced practice as an architect and surveyor from his house at 12 Lauriston Gardens, Edinburgh c.1870 and subsequently went into partnership with John Russell Walker (b.1847) at some point after May 1875.

It is not known when the younger James Sutherland joined the practice, but around 1884, approximately three years after his father's death, he appears to have left to set up on his own account with an office at 4 George Street. His practice does not appear to have prospered as it closed within a very few years.
