Bio Notes: John R Hacking was born in 1881 or 1882. He entered the competition for the Manchester Library and Art Gallery in conjunction with Graham Henderson (a fellow pupil or perhaps Hacking's teacher at Glasgow School of Art?) and together they were awarded 100gs prize. Hacking entered a formal partnership with Francis George Glyn Robertson in 1910 at 144 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, possibly having met Robertson at the office of John Burnet & Son. Hacking died only a year later in Helensburgh.
