Basic Biographical Details Name: | David Bell | Designation: | | Born: | | Died: | | Bio Notes: | David Bell worked as architect for John Miller and for James Bell, a senior assistant of Miller's who became engineer-in-chief of the North British Railway in 1844. He was presumably a relative of the latter, perhaps a brother.
Bell was an extremely accomplished architect; he is recorded only as a designer of stations, but probably assisted with the architectural detailing of viaducts as well. He does not appear in the Edinburgh directories, presumably either living with family or in lodgings. His death has not yet been traced; either he left Scotland or died early before registration began: a joiner and builder of that name died at 17 Cumberland Street, Edinburgh, on 13 November 1893, but it seems unlikely that such a sophisticated architect became a tradesman. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | Edinburgh, Scotland(?) | Business | | | |
