Bio Notes: Nothing is known of the early background or training of James McCallum of Edinburgh: he does not appear in the British Architectural Library/RIBA 'Directory of British Architects 1834-1914', Johnston, 'Artists of Scotland' or McKean, 'The Scottish Thirties'. From at least 1927 until at least 1935 he was the master of works for the Commercial Bank of Scotland, working out of their head office at 14 George Street. By 1937 he had entered into partnership with an unidentified Gordon. No further details of him are known.
