Basic Biographical Details Name: | Alexander Messer | Designation: | | Born: | 1810 | Died: | 4 April 1857 | Bio Notes: | Alexander Messer was born in 1810 and baptised at St Ninians, Stirlingshire on 2 August that year. He married Jane Ritchie on 3 June 1838 in Montrose, where their son John was born on 16 December that year. A daughter, Alexandrina, was born at Wick on 13 April 1848. By 1851 the family had moved to Dingwall where Alexander practised as an architect. Another daughter Elizabeth Reid Pearson was born on 10 August 1852, followed by a second son, Alexander, born on 17 March 1854, and a third, James B, born on 12 December 1855. A further daughter, Ann Wilson, died in May 1849 aged five years.
Messer's gravestone in Dingwall cemetery records his death on 4 April 1857 aged forty-seven.
