Bio Notes: John Swinton practised as a builder in Haddington. No details of him are yet known; he does not appear in the British Architectural Library/RIBA 'Directory of British Architects 1834-1914'. In the 1841 Census he was living in Church Street with his wife Janet and is described as a builder. In 1851 he was a widower and was still living in Church Street.

As well as his building work, Swinton acted as agent in the sale of houses.

He died in about 1853 or 1854 and his will was registered on on 6 March 1854.
