Bio Notes: James Law Lumsden was born in Fife (Kirkcaldy or Kinghorn) about 1847. He spent some time in Wigan in England around 1871 where he worked as a joiner. His wife was a native of Wigan and his daughter was born there.

He was Burgh Surveyor of Kirkcaldy from at least 1887. He was still in this post in 1907. No further details of him are yet known.
