Bio Notes: William Mackintosh Senior practised in Inverness from c.1870 until 1913, latterly assisted by his son William, born c.1883 and apprenticed to his father c.1898-1902. During the First World War he obtained a commission in the Royal Engineers. On demobilisation he was admitted ARIBA, probably under the War Exemption Scheme. He did not re-open his father's practice, settling in London to work for one-and-a-half years as an assistant in the office of Forsyth & Maule and then for seven years as chief assistant to Hornblower & Thorp where his work included housing schemes, hospitals and schools. He then became chief assistant to Paine & Hobday and relinquished that position to take up an appointment as Housing Inspector in the Ministry of Health in 1933. He remained in the Ministry until his retirement due to ill-health in 1953. He died on 10 October 1957.
