Bio Notes: Alfred Edward Purdie was born in 1843 and was articled to Gilbert Robert Blount in London, remaining as assistant from 1863. He commenced independent practice in 1875 and a year later took over Blount's practice after the latter's death. He was admitted FRIBA in 1893. In later life he moved to Canterbury, where he died on 26 February 1920.
