Basic Biographical Details Name: | Frederick Brice Hobbs | Designation: | | Born: | 1862 | Died: | 1944 | Bio Notes: | Frederick Brice Hobbs was born in 1862 and was articled to Henry Sumners of Liverpool from 1879 to 1883. He subsequently spent four months with quantity surveyor David Lyon before emigrating to Australia in 1884. There he was employed by the Queensland Government as a draughtsman, and worked in the offices of George Cowlishaw and of John Hingeston Buckeridge, both in Brisbane. He passed the qualifying exam in 1894 and returned to Liverpool to commence independent practice in 1897.
Hobbs worked in partnership with Arnold Thornely, Frank Gatley Briggs and Henry Vernon Wolstenholm for a time as Briggs, Wolstenholme, Hobbs & Thornely. He returned to Australia to work for Queensland Government in 1921.
