Bio Notes: Ian Stewart Kaye was the son of Stewart Kaye, architect, Edinburgh and his wife Mary Mackay McGregor. He studied for the degree of MA at the University of Cambridge and the diploma in architecture at the Northern Polytechnic in London. He was elected ARIBA in 1951 and ARIAS in 1955. He worked for his father after the Second World War, being taken into partnership the year he qualified.

By 1965 Kaye had moved to Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire where he remained until at least 1979. He returned to Scotland at some point thereafter. He died on 2 April 1987 at his home in Wester Coates Terrace, Edinburgh. He was divorced from his wife Maria.
