Bio Notes: Robert Frank Vallance was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in 1856. He was articled to Albert Nelson Bromley of Nottingham from 1874 to 1877 and subsequently worked as assistant to Goddard & Son of Lincoln until 1879 when he commenced independent practice in Mansfield. He was admitted FRIBA in 1891 and was joined in partnership by Louis Alfred Westwick in 1898.

Vallance was Borough Surveyor for Mansfield and Surveyor to Warsop Urban District Council. He was a Fellow of the Surveyors' Institution and was a Member of the Society of Arts. He died at his home, The Ridge, Mansfield on 18 April 1908.
