Bio Notes: Charles Ernest Jackson was born in November 1880 and articled to Robert Frank Vallance of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in 1898, remaining as assistant until 1905 and studying at local art classes. In the latter year he obtained what was probably a junior position in H M Office of Works at 3 Parliament Square, Edinburgh under William Thomas Oldrieve and attended classes at Heriot-Watt College and the School of Applied Art. He was admitted LRIBA on 24 June 1912, proposed by James Bow Dunn and the Edinburgh Architectural Association.

Jackson was killed in action in British East Africa, probably in 1918.
