Bio Notes: John Houston was born in 1853, the son of John Houston, master builder and quarryman, and who was a partner in Houston & Westwood and his wife Jean MacRobie. Houston obtained some experience with his father in the building trade before serving his articles with Shiells & Thomson of Edinburgh.
