He was articled to William Gilbee Habershon and rose to become chief assistant, taking charge of the Newport branch of the business. He was subsequently taken into partnership, the firm becoming Habershon, Pite & Fawckner, with offices in London, Cardiff and Newport. Habershon died in 1891 and Fawckner became senior partner. The London office was subsequently closed.
