Basic Biographical Details Name: | James Stockdale Harrison | Designation: | | Born: | 1874 | Died: | 16 October 1952 | Bio Notes: | James Stockdale Harrison was born in 1874 and articled to his father, Stockdale Harrison of Leicester, in January 1892 and remained as assistant, studying at Leicester Art School. He passed the qualifying exam in 1898 and was admitted ARIBA on 5 December 1898, his proposers being his father, John Goodacre and Albert Edwin Sawday, also of Leicester.
Stockdale Harrison won the competitions for the De Montfort Hall, Leicester and the Usher Hall, Edinburgh. He also designed various housing schemes for Leicester Corporation. With his father and his brother he was responsible for numerous industrial and commercial buildings around the city.
