Bio Notes: Benjamin Pender Gibb was born on 2 February 1889, the son of John Gibb, whisky merchant, and his wife Annie Aitchison. He was chief architect with Dunbartonshire Education Authority in the 1920s moving to the post of Dumbarton Deputy County Architect c.1930. His address throughout the 1930s was 63 Barrington Drive, Glasgow. He was Dumbarton County Architect from 1947 after the retirement of Joseph Weekes.

The Kilsyth Chronicle of 7th October 1955 records the committal for trial on charges of fraud of the former convener of Dunbarton County Council, Daniel L Stewart, and the former county architect, Benjamin P Gibb. The charges relate to the erection of railings at Stewart's house in Old Kilpatrick.

Gibb died at the War Memorial Hospital Peebles on 10 March 1978. His wife Phoebe Stanley Blackhurst had predeceased him but he was survived by his son.
