Bio Notes: Henry Hardy was born in 1831, the third son of Thomas Hardy and Robina Forrester. He appears in the RSA catalogues as landscape painter as well as architect. Whether he was a pupil of George Smith of Edinburgh is not known, but he was in partnership with him from about 1860. On the retirement of Smith in the mid-1870s he took into partnership John Rutherford Wight who was two years older, born in 1829 the son of the Rev James Wight.

Hardy died on 4 December 1908 at 32 Minto Street, Edinburgh; Wight on 8 September 1919 at 76 Hamilton Place.
