Bio Notes: William Gordon Knox was born in Aberdeen in about 1835. He trained with one of the principal architects in Aberdeen for five years and then spent nine years working with a number of the 'first architects' in London. he opened business on his own account in Aberdeen in December 1862. In 1871 he was living with Margaret Maitland (pre-married name?), probably his mother who was an annuitant and his sister who was a teacher at 51 Skene Terrace, Aberdeen. He had moved to Glasgow by 1881.
