Basic Biographical Details Name: | Leadbetter & Smith | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1861 | Died: | 1863 or c. 1864 | Bio Notes: | Charles Leadbetter was born at Innerleithen c.1813. Nothing is known of his training but c.1861 he was in partnership with James W Smith. Their office was then at 38 Hanover Street in Edinburgh. James W Smith left Leadbetter's office to set up his own practice at 13 South Frederick Street in the mid-1860s, but it proved short-lived.
Leadbetter died on 26 February 1888, aged 74. His relationship, if any, to Thomas Leadbetter is unknown, but the Directories show that in the mid-1880s the practices were quite separate, Charles being based at 7 St Andrew's Place and Thomas at 122 George Street. In his final years Charles is shown at his house in Mayfield Road only indicating that the practice was being wound down. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | 38, Hanover Street, Edinburgh, Scotland | Business | c. 1861 | 1863 or c. 1864 | |
