Bio Notes: John Forrest was born about 1865 in Huntly, the son of George Forrest, house carpenter and music teacher. His mother had died before he was seven, though his father remarried in the early 1870s. By 1881 he was an architect's apprentice. During the 1880s he emigrated to Australia where he met and married Mary Comf of South Melbourne. They returned to Scotland at some point before 1901. He worked in independent practice in Forres in the final years of the nineteenth century. No further details are yet known.
