Bio Notes: Conner was born in Glasgow in 1864 to Benjamin Connor, a locomotive superintendent with the Caledonian Railway Company and Helen Dick.


Conner studied at Glasgow Technical College before starting an apprenticeship at the engineering company J Copeland & Co in August 1883 before joining the locomotive works of the Caledonian Railway Factory in October 1886, transferring to the civil engineering department in 1888. He became an associate member of the Insitute of Civil Engineers in December 1896.

By 1902 Connor had a practice at 196 St. Vincent Street, Glasgow, designing a first floor extension to the Arlington Baths Club for the Glasgow Swimming Baths Co. Ltd.
