Basic Biographical Details Name: | J & J Lamb | Designation: | | Born: | Before 1863 | Died: | 1872 | Bio Notes: | James Jamieson Lamb was born in 1817, presumably the son of the J Lamb who repaired Paisley Abbey in 1828. Nothing is known of his early training but he was sufficiently well-placed to be able to marry Sarah Rebecca Barr on 2 April 1844 and must have been an architect of some standing in Paisley by 1848 when he received the commission for the Government School of Design there. He took his son James Barr Lamb into partnership in or about 1863, the practice having the title of J & J Lamb. He died at his home, Underwood Cottage, Paisley on 27 September 1872, leaving the substantial moveable estate of £7,982 9s 4d, more than many of the leading Glasgow practitioners. His practice was continued by his son, who became a Paisley Bailie in later life and who died in 1910. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland | Business | | | |
