Basic Biographical Details Name: | Hugh Hough (or Heugh, or Heuch) MacLure | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1821 | Died: | 31 July 1892 | Bio Notes: | Hugh Hough Maclure (his middle name also being variously spelt Heugh or Heuch) was born c.1821, the son of Andrew MacLure, master plasterer and Margaret Marshall. He was related to the engineers of the Glasgow and South Western Railway (although it is not clear which ones), and carried out both architectural and civil engineering work for that company. In the latter year his office was in Sauchiehall Street and by that time he had been responsible for 'railways, roadbridges' and had written on 'The Sewage of Glasgow and Neighbourhood'.
MacLure married Eliza Reid and they had a son, W R MacLure. Hugh H MacLure died of rheumatic gout, pruritis and enlarged prostate at his home, Wellwood, Bearsden, New Kilpatrick on 31 July 1892. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | 65, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, Scotland | Business | Before 1860 | After 1872 | | | 127, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, Scotland | Business | Before 1875 | After 1880 | | | Wellwood, New Kilpatrick/Bearsden, Dunbartonshire/Glasgow, Scotland | Private | 31 July 1892 * | | |
