Bio Notes: George Simpson Barr was born on 16 June 1891 (although the GSA roll gives 1894) at No 5 Pit, Braehead, Old Monkland, the son of James Barr and Mary Simpson. He studied at Glasgow School of Art in 1914-1915. He married Margaret Brownlee on 7 November 1923 at the Tontine Hotel, Greenock; at that time he was living at The Chestnuts, High Blantyre. The following year he was taken into partnership by John Galt and together they practised as Galt & Barr at 59 Bath Street until 1934 or 1935.

Barr died of myocardial infarction and bronchial asthma on 29 Janary 1973 at Haylie House Eventide Home. His death was registered by G A A Barr of 46 Innes Park Road, Skelmorlie.
