He studied at Glasgow School of Architecture and was admitted ARIBA in 1950. He was taken into partnership by his father in 1952 as Arthur Bracewell & Son. He was elected FRIAS in 1961. By 1970 he was in practice as Bracewell Harrison & Coton; the firm still practices today under the name Bracewell Stirling Architects.
Bracewell died on 21 October 1987.
