Basic Biographical Details

Name: James Bowie & Co
Designation: Architectural practice
Started:
Ended:
Bio Notes: James Bowie does not appear to have been related to John McLintock Bowie. He practised under his own name or James Bowie and Company and seems to have worked both from Ayr and from Crofthill, Dumfries. He appears as a cabinet maker and upholsterer in post office directories. There are probably several generations of Bowies but in 1901 James Bowie (born 1858) and his son James D Bowie (born 1887) lived at 33 Queen's Terrace.
