Bio Notes: Joseph Blaikie was born about 1841 into humble circumstances. Aged 10, he was described as a pauper scholar and the family (his mother was head of the household) live in Ladylaw Place.

Joseph worked as a mason through most of his working life in Hawick but is described as an architect in 1901. He was married to Janet___ and they had two sons and two daughters.

Blaikie died aged 86 on 27 January 1926.
