Basic Biographical Details | Name: | John Anderson | | Designation: | Architect | | Born: | 1872 | | Died: | 9 March 1962 | | Bio Notes: | John Anderson was born in 1872 and was articled to Matthews & Mackenzie of Aberdeen in 1885, remaining as assistant after completing his apprenticeship. In 1891 he moved to London, entering the office of Sir Robert William Edis. He travelled in Italy in 1892, and in the same year joined Frederick George Knight as an assistant. He subsequently returned to Matthews & Mackenzie as chief assistant. He passed the qualifying exam in 1894 and was admitted ARIBA on 11 June the same year, proposed by Edis, Arthur Cates and Lacy William Ridge. He worked in partnership with Herbert Winkler Wills and Sir Thomas Edwin Cooper from 1918 to 1942.
