Bio Notes: William James Geddes was born on 29 November 1911, the son of John Malcolm Geddes, joiner, and his wife, Lilly Flett. He was articled to R M Fulton of Buckie for three years from July 1927. He then studied full-time at Aberdeen School of Architecture, Robert Gordon's College, obtaining his diploma on 30 June 1931 and an endorsement of his diploma on 30 June 1933 and passing the Professional Practice exam in July 1933. In the same year he entered the office of Robert Baillie Pratt of Elgin, where he remained for nine months, subsequently spending six months as Clerk of Works under D McAlpine, Seafield Estates Architect in Cullen. He was admitted ARIBA on 14 January 1935, his proposers being Robert Leslie Rollo, John Gibb Marr and James Wood, Banffshire County Architect, whom he had known since 1920. His nomination papers give no business address but give his private address as 9A Station Road, Portessie, Buckie, Banffshire.

Geddes died aged 25 on 29 September 1937 at his home in Portlessie. He was survived by his wife Isobel Stephen.
