Bio Notes: John Chalmers practised in Perth as an architect. He was married to Jane Gorrie and had two sons, Thomas Gorrie Chalmers and Alexander Gorrie Chalmers, the latter being an architect. Described as 'architect and surveyor', John Chalmers recommended William Forsyth of Comely Green, Edinburgh, to the Trustees' Academy in May 1848. No further details are known. John Chalmers died on 13 November 1890 at the age of sixty-one, leaving moveable estate of £925 1s 1d.
