Basic Biographical Details

Name: William Bruce
Designation:
Born: c. 1834
Died:
Bio Notes: William Bruce was perhaps born in Airth, Stirlingshire about 1834, the son of James Bruce, landed proprietor, and his wife Ann. He seesm to have lived in Edinburgh in the 1850s and is perhaps the William Bruce who provided the designs for the choir at St Andrews Llanbryde in 1857. At that time he is described as being 'of Edinburgh'. He began business at Huntly on 15 November 1858.

He is probably not the same person as the mason who died in Aberdeen on 26 June 1869, and who lived at 63 Causewayend and later 21 Whitehouse Street, though at present this cannot be confirmed.
