Bio Notes: Andrew William Belfrage and George Somervil Carfrae were civil engineers who also designed buildings. They formed a partnership from about 1890.

Little is known of Andrew William Belfrage other than that he was born in 1842, the son of William Belfrage, hosier and Ann Thomson Burnet. He seems to have owned the estate of Colliston in Kinrosshire He died on 31 January 1915 at Earlsknowe, Elie, aged 72 years, leaving moveable estate of £3,054 with an eke of £531 12s 6d.

George Somervil Carfrae was born on 13 January 1854, the son of Thomas Carfrae. Carfrae died on 21 April 1934 (other sources say 23 May of that year). At that time he was living at 10 Garscube Terrace, Edinburgh. He was buried at Dean Cemetery, leaving moveable estate of £50,075 2s 9d.
